Mural Family Room Headspace
2026
Family Room is a mural co-designed by YeYe with headspace Ballarat’s Youth Reference Group (YRG), the Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY), and students from Ballarat High School. Featuring national flowers that reflect the community’s diverse cultural identities, the artwork embodies a shared vision described as “culture brought together by nature,” creating a space of connection and belonging.
Organisation: Headspace
Location: Ballarat - Australia
Size 5.1 m wide × 2.7 m tall
This mural is a celebration of connection, belonging, and cultural diversity, created through a collaborative co-design process with young people. Through a series of creative workshops, participants were invited to share words, shapes, and colours that represent their identities, experiences, and sense of community. These conversations became the heart of the artwork.
Inspired by themes of growth, calmness, and support, the mural unfolds as a vibrant garden where nature becomes a language of connection. Each flower represents a different cultural background present within the Ballarat community, forming a collective landscape where diversity is not only visible but celebrated. The inclusion of the begonia, an iconic flower of Ballarat, gently roots the mural in its local context, bridging global identities with a sense of place
This mural was possible through the collaboration of many hands and voices.
